what does he think of the dalish in general? O: sorry if i missed it and you've already answered that!

tbh i just edited the post and retagged it w/ a vague answer to this but HONESTLY I’d prefer to go in depth lmao

Like it’s important 2 kno that in Witcher-canon Iorveth is one of the first elves who came to the continent, but he doesn’t care about the evolution of their culture. I’d assume it’s the same for the Dalish of Dragon Age, in his eyes.

What and how they worship doesn’t matter anymore if they’re being oppressed. Elves can do whatever they want if it makes them happy: he isn’t going to correct anyone, because it’s not really his place. What matters is their freedom, and that’s what he’s going to fight for; not some distant and dead past that he lived through and saw fall. LIKE ofc he’d be sort of misty-eyed about it in reminiscing regarding what was lost and what they had, but he’d never condemn the Dalish for what they do or what they believe in.

Moreover, it’s the fact that they’re trying?? to benefit themselves and their people with their teachings. Like Iorveth is a huge fucking jerk about most things but there’d be nothing in him but respect for them, and their adamance regarding their own culture.

He doesn’t have the vast knowledge that someone like Solas would have had; like,,,, Solas is a god lmao whereas Iorveth is just a soldier: he’s got very limited information on the past in the first place, so it’s not like he himself would look at things in terms of what’s “right” and what’s “wrong”. The Dalish do what they think is best, and he’s not going to mess with that; he’s earnestly trying to get back what they had, but that doesn’t include the specifics of their culture and their religion.

He juST,,,, WANTS THE ELves of the new world to experience the freedom that they deserve lmao

★      Even a half-blooded sorceress is a demon in your eyes ❞    Sitting against chilled stone flooring of an abandoned ward, Yennefer tried her best to gather her thoughts whilst her powers were mysteriously blocked from being used. Being part elven was often disputed as a lie; her ears weren’t the slightest bit pointed and she looked to be a pure human.  Although the hard feelings were a touch over dramatic, Yennefer understood the war against magic folk entirely. Mage’s were overpowered, dangerous and most importantly, untrustworthy.

Banal nadas. Perhaps not a demon,
but you know better than most why a
powerful sorceress is something to be
wary of, no matter the circumstance

Scorn wrought a mien marred by the folly of trust; ‘twas such that few begat any vestiges of its like              that part of him had perished with whatever erstwhile camaraderie amidst humans he had felt, when that frigid blade had sundered flesh both kith and kin. Yet of the mages he held less contempt; he knew of their deceit and the esurient lust after power, though it had not been an enchanter who had butchered his people.

Your own lack of surprise only serves to substantiate this.

Does Iorveth's idealism waves? I mean... A lot of idealistic people suffers for self awareness. They consider themselves naive. Does Iorveth ever tries to be more pragmatic about things or he's a certified idealist?

Probably? I think it did when he first associated with Saskia; the idea of having a communal place where all of the races could be free was probably a fucked up idea to him in the beginning. I mean he was pretty fucking pissed at all humans, and still is; the idea was definitely one that he had to mull over and consider a lot before really helping the cause.
